Association of Pet Dog Trainers Ireland.
Setting the Standard in Dog Training Excellence.
Mission statement: To set a standard of excellence for dog training professionals and to foster the human/canine bond through education and the promotion of reward-based, dog-friendly training methods.
Finding a suitably qualified and knowledgeable dog trainer can be full of pitfalls for well-intentioned dog owners. Training practitioners might have a bewildering array of letters after their names, some of which have no real meaning.
Some trainers have never been formally trained in the science of learning, may not follow on ongoing program of professional development, and as a result may be applying misguided, ineffective, often punitive and damaging training techniques.
APDT Ireland seeks to correct this, and to make it easier for dog owners to find a properly certified and assessed trainer who will only use fun and effective dog-friendly training techniques.
We will also explain the mysteries behind all those letters you might see after a dog trainer’s name, so that owners can discern who has the credentials the worldwide industry is finally beginning to demand.
