About Us
APDT Ireland was founded by a group of Irish dog trainers
and officially launched in 2010.
Our objective is to create a positive impact on dog training in Ireland and to help create a base standard for testing which is mandatory for professional members of APDT Ireland.
Unlike other professions, there is no regulatory body for the profession of dog training in Ireland. We believe that by having a certification procedure for all professional members of APDT Ireland and by putting in place a strict code of conduct that members must abide by it allows dog owners to make a better informed decision when selecting a dog trainer.
Our certification procedure for members was developed to measure skill, competency and experience in the field of dog training, Our members are also encouraged to pursue a programme of ongoing education in canine training, behaviour and scientific progress in canine human interaction. Dog owners are assured that they receive a very high standard of advice and coaching from APDT Ireland certified dog trainers.
Only trainers that have passed the certification process are approved by APDT Ireland as professional members.
